Real sounds, real tracks, real teams, real duels - with DTM Experience, fans get closer to the DTM than ever before. During the presentation of the new DTM race game at the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg on Friday morning, newly-crowned champion Mike Rockenfeller (Audi), Martin Tomczyk (BMW) and Christian Vietoris (Mercedes-Benz) were the first to experience how close a lap with DTM Experience comes to the real thing. With immediate effect, every fan can now also experience the feeling of driving fast with a car from the most popular international touring car series. The official demo version is available for download free of charge at www.dtm.com as an appetizer for the full version of the PC game that is to be released during the fourth quarter of 2013.
In the DTM Experience demo, the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg is the featured track. There is a choice of three DTM cars, an Audi RS 5 DTM, a BMW M3 DTM and a DTM Mercedes AMG C-Coupé, and the fastest drivers even have the unique chance to compete against a real DTM driver. During this weekend’s DTM season finale at the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg as well as in the next five weeks online after registration for the DTM Experience Community, the fastest driver will be determined in “Get Real” mode. The winners will be challenging real DTM drivers on the DTM stand at the Essen Motor Show on November 30th.
DTM Experience has various skill levels, from easy handling for beginners up to the “Get Real” mode for professionals that is even a challenge for real DTM drivers and in which one can adjust the handling of the car. DTM rights-holder and promoter ITR e.V. has commissioned SimBin Studios AB and RaceRoom Entertainment AG to develop DTM Experience.
“It was the wish of the ITR and the series’ partners of the DTM to bring the most popular international touring car series back to the computer screens again and to meet the requirements of the series in doing so. The ITR strives to get its partners on board as well and thus use the opportunities for interaction with the fans in an intensity unseen so far,” says Walter Mertes, ITR e.V. board member for marketing and sponsoring. “DTM Experience is not to be a mere game, but rather to provide the opportunity to get a virtual racing experience and to get the fans closer than the action than ever before,” says Klaus Wohlfarth, CEO, SimBin Studios AB.
After their first virtual laps, the DTM professionals were excited about DTM Experience. “A great game, the best available so far. It really is like in my real car. The tracks have been rendered very well, too,” says game expert, Christian Vietoris. “It is great fun. I am already looking forward to being able to make all the adjustments to the car. It would also be great to see all 22 DTM drivers playing together and racing each other,” Martin Tomczyk comments. “The game is incredibly realistic, really great. Seeing myself in this game is cool,” says Mike Rockenfeller, for whom the Hockenheim finale almost is a show run after already having sealed the title at Zandvoort. However, ’Rocky’ still wants to help Audi and his Phoenix team win the manufacturers’ and teams’ titles. In the manufacturers’ standings, BMW still has a chance, in the battle for the teams’ title, BMW Team RBM and STIHL/AMG Mercedes can also still win instead of Phoenix.
